THE MEANING BEHIND THE SONG “FOOTBALL”

Football is a song that Greyson himself wrote and dedicated to all of his fans, it’s a song about how he went through all the downs he’s been getting recently. 

According to my analysis, here’s the explanation;

“I’ve been playing football in my head, I’ve been patiently waiting for this game to end.” – Football is actually how Greyson pictures the problems he’s been getting recently like; parted with Interscope, didn’t get to release TBT Part 1 in the US & Worldwide, may not do promos until a certain contract is expired, etc. He’s been patiently waiting for those problems to end.

“I’ve been tackling it with my mind, I’ve been waiting for you to come around, I’ve been waiting for a touchdown.” – He’s been tackling it with his mind. It means, he’s been thinking hard about how to solve all the problems. He’s been waiting for a touchdown. Touchdown in football is when you score points to win the game, to beat the opponent. He’s been waiting to beat all of the problems he has been through. He’s been waiting to win this game.

“Bright lights turn up the night, but I’m stuck here in the dark. But I’ll be there.” – Bright lights is how Greyson pictures the opportunity to do something big, the joy and the happiness that another artists are getting, but he is stuck in the dark which is the other way around. But he knows and he believes, he will be there. He will be in the bright side.

“Bright lights passing me by.” – Everyone around him keeps getting higher and bigger, like Ariana Grande, Cody Simpson, and else. But not him, he is stuck at where is he right now.

“I’ll never leave ya, I’ll never leave ya.” – He’s telling the fans that he would never leave them, through ups or even downs. He will always be there no matter what.

“You and I, we’re forever young and wild.” – ‘You and I’ is referring to himself and his fans. He wants us to always stick by him and stay forever young with him. He wants us to stay the same.

I think that’s all the things that I could figure out from this song. Everything that I typed down fits Greyson’s description about this song that he said at his recent interview at Smart Music Launch.
